Diaspora & Exile

HuMENA’s engagement with diaspora and exile communities recognizes that civic action does not stop at national borders. Activists, journalists, researchers, and human rights defenders who have left the MENA region — whether by choice or under threat — continue to contribute to the struggle for rights and freedoms in their countries of origin.

This section gathers HuMENA’s work related to exile and diaspora communities: advocacy against transnational repression, support for exile-based civic initiatives, and documentation of the unique challenges facing MENA communities abroad.
