Zaki Hannache documented arrests of protesters after Algeria's 2019 Hirak uprising. He was arrested in 2022, charged with terrorism-related offences, and held for six weeks before provisional release on bail. He left for Tunisia, was sentenced in absentia to three years in prison in 2023, and was resettled in Canada as a refugee in December 2023.
