Mohamed Al-Roken is a human rights lawyer who defended activists and critics of the UAE government. Arrested in 2012, he completed a 10-year sentence in 2022 but was never released. In July 2024 a second mass trial sentenced him to life imprisonment, a verdict made final in March 2025.
